Lmaooooo
Glad it stayed on at least!
I’ve left a tool box in the engine bay of my truck for a few days. I didn’t drive it, though. But my ex had to point out to me that the hood wasn’t fully latched.

I drove around w/ a 9/16 in between the hood and the front fender of my old S uburban for MONTHS.

Closest to that is that I once drove something like 30 miles on the highway with my dad's Jeep with the key on the windshield (keyless go i guess). I was about to turn on the wipers when I saw the little chrome tab shine and I pulled over.

That’s funny. I’ve left a wrench under the hood of the Miata and drove it around haha. It happens.

My mechanic called me one afternoon and asked me to look under my Jeep to confirm that his flashlight was still wedged in the exhaust. Sure enough, there it was.

I found my magnetic based flashlight due to the underglow it provided to the off side rear wheel well. Only saw it once I went into town to get some take away dinner....

Ha!
I once drove 20 miles from my buddy’s house to mine, with a pair of needle nose pliers on my back bumper. I didn't even notice them until the next morning, but there they were still.

At an autocross this past year, a 14mm wrench came flying out of one of the cars and skidded along the ground at one of the corners (where I was working). We were universally disappointed it wasn’t a 10mm.

Years ago, I helped a friend change a clutch in his Hyundai in the driveway.
It was a multi-day project for sure, plagued
with rain and mud and other frustrations. Once it was all together, on the first drive, there was a weird clunking from the left front suspension. We
pulled off the wheel
and had a good laugh
at the hammer just
lying on the control arm.

That’s funny. I left a socket in a similar place once (yep, a 10mm) and watched it fly away at light speed in the rear view on the first ramp I hit.
